It’s Moving Day for Laura Ingalls Wilder!
In this presentation Laura is preparing to move her family from South Dakota to Missouri in the Spring of 1894. This program displays the challenges and some of the fun aspects of life on the frontier in 1870s and 1880s. Come and learn about the extraordinary adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and how they did differ from the (fictional) books. Children will learn that Laura had a rather ordinary life, just like them!

Filled with silliness, crowd participation, and  unique memorable characters, this series of charming and positive short stories will delight the young and the young at heart!

There's still time to honor your Hopkinton hero!

Honor Your Hopkinton Hero

Here’s your chance to say “thank you” to someone in town who has been your hero. It could be a friend who helped you when you were sick, a child who offered to shovel your front walk, or someone at a local business who went out of their way to do something nice for you. Think of the possibilities! People of all ages are invited to submit names and a few sentences explaining WHY this person is your hero. (You may be asked for a picture at a later date.)
Sixteen names will be selected and will be featured this summer on our Story Walk™, which is on the path behind the Slusser Center and playground. ALL names will be posted in the library with the reason they were chosen.
Please return this form to the Hopkinton Town Library by Friday, June 5.

Splish Splash Science Camp  Tuesday 7/15 from 10-11:30am for 1st and 2nd graders.

Robot Making Workshop (2 different times) Wednesday 7/16 from 10-11am OR 6-7pm for K-4th grade. Use recycled materials to build your robot.  This is a parent/child workshop.

Splish Splash Science Camp  Thursday 7/17 from 10-11:30am for 3rd grade and up.

Water World Friday 7/18 from 10-11am for K and younger.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Friday 7/18 - Sat 7/19 Drop off your stuffed animal between 10am and 5pm. Pick up at 9am and stay for a donut.  For stuffed animals of all ages!  (Click here to see an album of photos from last year's sleepover).

Stuff for kids this week!

Robots Rule! Tuesday July 1 from 10 -11:30 am for new 1st and 2nd graders

52 With a View Wednesday July 2 from 6 - 7 pm for Grade 1 and up.
Meet author Dan Szczesny ("Buffalo") and 12 year old Janelle ("Tough Cookie"), who will talk about their adventures of discovery while hiking New Hampshire's "52 mountains with a view". More info about The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie.

Still time to do the Nature Quest!

The 4th annual Quest, Nature Quest, will wrap up this Friday July 15th. Please bring your pictures to the library by that day! More information can be found on our website. No sign up required.

SRP - Wildlife Walk at Elm Brook Park

If your family is signed up for tomorrow's (July 13) Wildlife Walk at Elm Brook Park, we will be meeting at 12:45 at the ranger station. When entering the park, let the attendant know that you're there for the Hopkinton Town Library program. There will be no fee. If you decide to remain in the park after the program, you will be required to pay the fee.

Upcoming Programs

The Summer Reading Program is wrapping up!

On Wednesday August 11th from 2-4pm, author Michael Sullivan will be here with games of chess, both big and small.  BIG CHESS will be played on a 16 foot square board with correspondingly large pieces!  All chess players are invited.

Also on Wednesday August 11th at 6:30pm, we'll have Marek Bennett and Friends here for a family concert, with singing, drumming and guitar.  Kids ages 21/2 to 4 (with their parents) and kids going into Kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome.  Please call or email the library to register for this program.

The Summer Reading Program "Read-aissance" Finale will take place on Thursday August 12 from 10-11am with ice cream, certificates and prizes.  Parents are encouraged to attend too!

Summer Reading Program Wrap Up

This year's Summer Reading Program was a great success - 230 kids participated in the program, reading and reporting on books and attending programs. Highlights included a Hot Air Balloon Glow attended by over 150 community members, a visit to the "100 Acre Wood", hikes, Wildlife Encounters and the design, construction (and consumption!) of a Sand Castle Cake. Congratulations and thanks go to Children's Librarian Leigh Maynard and her unflappable partner Nancy Raymond!
