September Programs

Story Time  and Lap Time

Children ages 3-5 and a caregiver are invited to StoryTime on Tuesdays at 1 PM and Wednesdays at 10:30 AM for songs, stories, and an art experience. Fridays at 10:30 AM, children under age 3 are invited to Lap Time with a caregiver. Siblings are always welcome at both programs. Programs begin the week of September 8th.

Make a Unicorn Finger Puppet

Saturday, September 14th at the Farmer’s Market.

Drop in between 9 AM and 12 PM to make your own puppet!

The market is held at the Depot in Contoocook.

Thursday, September 26th from 4-5 PM

Who can resist reading to Emma, a certified therapy dog?

Sign up for 15 minutes of time.

StoryWalk™

One of our director’s favorites, “The Little Fur Family” by Margaret Wise Brown will be on the StoryWalk™ this fall. The StoryWalk™ is located behind the Slusser Center and playground.

Scavenger Hunt

We’re introducing the 2019-2020 Ladybook Book Award nominees. Images of their covers are located throughout the front of the library. Find them all and choose a book prize!

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Sign up at the library to read 1000 books to your child/ren before they head off to Kindergarten.

Community Service Opportunities

We’re looking for help straightening books, putting up displays, assisting at Farmer’s Market crafts every other month, and helping at Tuesday evening programs.

Tuesday Evening Programs

Beginning in October, Tuesday evening programs will be held between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. Stay tuned!

All programs are free and open to the public.

Registration requirements are noted where they apply.

Building and Beading for All Ages

Tuesday, November 6th 12:30-3:30

(instead of StoryTime)

Drop in between voting and conferences for some fun in the Community Room! Build with Duplo™, BrainFlakes™, and more! Make a holiday gift or jewelry for yourself. There will be many types of beads to choose from.

While you’re here, enjoy the StoryWalk™ (see below), read at the Story Stops, and come visit us in the Slusser Center. We have a new selection of children’s books waiting here for you to check out!

Read With Emma

Thursday, November 15th 4-5 PM in the Community Room

Emma is excited to listen to you practice your reading skills with her! She’s a friendly Yellow Lab who is a very patient listener. Sign up for 15 minutes of

reading time with Emma. Bring your own book or let her choose one for you.

Family Concert

Friday, November 30th from 6-7 PM in the Community Room

We’re excited to present Jefferey Clayton of PanNeubean Steel, with his soulful blend of island music. This program is part of the Starry Starry weekend events and is sponsored by the Hopkinton Library Foundation.

Story Stops

Here’s an activity for you and your child(ren) that will get you outside AND

reading! Four “Story Stops” are set up in Contoocook. After reading the stories, come to the library for a book prize. Stops are located at the playground, library porch, Slusser Center porch, and Jane Lewellen Bandstand.

behind the Slusser Center and playground.

Story Time and Lap Time

Story Time is held on Tuesdays at 1 PM and Wednesdays at 10:30 AM. (ages 2 1/2 to 5) Lap Time is on Fridays at 10:30 AM. (ages birth to 2 1/2). All events will be held in the library Community Room.

Story Stops

Stop and Read

Here’s an activity for you and your children that will get you

outside AND reading!

Four “Story Stops” are set up at the following locations:

• the Jane Lewellen Bandstand (near the Depot)

• the playground behind the Slusser Center

• on the Slusser Center porch

• on the Hopkinton Town Library covered porch

(closest to the Slusser Center)

Read the stories and follow the directions in the bag.

Don’t forget to leave the book for the next reader!

After you’ve read all four stories, bring your checklist (in the bag)

to the library (lower level of the Slusser Center)

and choose a book prize.
