May the Fourth Be With You

With sincere apologies to Edward Lear and his "Owl and the Pussycat" this developed in my post covid brain over the weekend.  Also apologies for the execrable grammar.  See what art makes necessary...Ha.

Oh me and the pussycat went to flee
Into quarantine up the stairs.
We took some Cromwell
and Plenty of Get Wells
Wrapped up in a warm green quilt.
Mousy said with a purr
(And I truly concur)
You really need copious rest.
Oh let's listen to Hobbits
And Drink tea by the goblets..
But what shall we do when phone rings?
We'll push it away
For a week and a day
Until we're back in the land of the living.
And then if we're good
With bad breathing withstood
Up from bed again we will arose, arose
Up from bed again we will arose
Dear friends we are grateful
For the food by the plateful
and the blooms that adorned every sill.
I've been cared for each day
for some weeks, no delay
by my family and resident kitty.
We dined on treats
Lots of veg, not much meat
which we ate with a well rins-ed spoon
And now hand in hand
Done with covid (how grand)
We'll dance by the light of the moon, the moon
We'll dance by the light of the moon.
