Set in London during World War II, Ada was never
allowed to leave the house. Because of her club foot, she was shunned by
her mother and treated as an embarrassment. In order to survive, when
the children began evacuating the city, Ada
and her brother took the opportunity to join them, sneaking out of the
house. What they encountered was both harrowing and surprising. This is
