of mice and men go frequently awry...
So, truth be told, we thought we were going to be able to have a grand opening on May 12th. Not so fast, said the library gods. Or perhaps it's the construction gods. Anyway, the knee joists weren't quite connecting with the electrical joists, let alone the flooring joists. I know, I know, this is all nonsense. The point is, it's not going to happen. We will probably be able to open to the public quietly by the end of May and THEN we'll have a grand party on Sunday June 9th, So mark your calendars and stay tuned.
Meanwhile, we're still doing good work down here on the lower level of the Slusser Center with our friendly pool ladies and the space is looking better every day (the library that is...)
This blog post is dedicated to Sara Darby, who worked here at the Slusser Center since its opening. She was an avid reader and regular library user, who was probably happier than anyone else about the lightning strike because it brought the library right into her building. We'll miss her and so will our circulation statistics....
