Wednesday Update and George Chase

I am sad to report that longtime Library Trustee died several days ago in Concord.  He and his wife Sally moved to Concord within the last year and George was in failing health.  He played an important part in the establishment of the Hopkinton Town Library on Houston Drive and will be sorely missed.  A funeral is planned for September 8th.  Details to follow.

On to more mundane matters.  The library proper should be empty by the end of the week.  Ceiling tiles and insulation will be tested for smoke damage when the building is empty.  All of the artwork, including the quilt has been removed for cleaning.  The Reference Area has been disassembled!

My office has been emptied--great way to clean out the files!

We have more library visitors every day, which is lovely.  Today we checked in 94 items and checked out 43 plus 32 renewals.  Staff are hard at work and Slusser Center staff and volunteers have been very welcoming.  This is a hive of activity.
