Twas Tuesday all day

And the first day of the library accepting the return of books.  Fifteen or so people took advantage of this opportunity to unload their well-read books and well-watched DVDs etc.  We've done some tweaking including the fact that we probably do not have to devote two people to staffing this enterprise and we also learned that in some ways face shields are much nicer than face masks. Easier to breathe, not to mention ease of apple eating and water drinking...these books etc will now be in quarantine for 72 hours, then wiped down and checked back into the collection to be re-shelved.  Community members were VERY adept at following our fancy blue arrows...
One quick comment on covid etc. brain.  I am fairly addicted to the NewsHour on PBS, but sometimes have to turn to Rick Steves talking about his travels (building bridges not walls) or Antiques Roadshow for diversion.  But now, to add insult to injury in these distressing times, it is pledge drive.  These places of solace are removed to be replaced by programming choices that remain a mystery to me.  Does PBS really think this will raise them money.  Ok.  Enough.

Fortunately this is a season of flowers.  and, to paraphrase William Congreve, the 17th century playwright/poet, I think flowers have charms to sooth a savage breast.  Truly, I always thought this was beast, but it ain't so.  There you have it.  Your thought for the day, and next to  the quote, a bouquet for you from my garden...
Musick has Charms to sooth a savage Breast, To soften Rocks, or bend a knotted Oak.
