There were compensations to quarantine. I was very well taken care of by my dear husband and we were well fed by neighbors and friends. And the staff kept the ship on course, even in these bizarre uncharted waters. My appetite is much diminished...I long to crave some food and the first breakfast i made for myself a couple of days ago, which seemed delicious, but not quite so, turned out to have included sour half and half. Pretty putrid according to my husband, whose sense of smell, fortunately, is still intact. He and my daughter have remained healthy. This is a strangely traveling beast of a disease.
Further compensations, when not napping I could read read read, without guilt. Sometimes listening to audiobooks (thank you libby and hoopla) though sometimes needing to retrace steps thanks to dozing. And I finished the new Cromwell tome by Hilary Mantel. I'll miss the bugger. It was interesting to note the parallels with the 16th century. "What, you can't have the king go through Warwick. They are closed down with the plague." "You know you can't go into the king's presence if you have a cough, or even if you've been with someone with a cough." Really. There's nothing new under the sun.
So I am slowly coming back, even to the therapy of blog writing. We are trying to figure out what a reopening strategy will look like, looking to the state for guidance. Meanwhile, the online offerings abound. Karen has led a book discussion group, with more to follow and Leigh is doing zoom storytimes and a wealth of other activities. And we are still available via phone and email. More later. I need to check in with Mouse to see if it's time for a tea...
