Truly Under Covid

Just imagine me singing "But will you KNOW me, tomorrow..???" (well, maybe not...)

I just picked up ten face shields for the staff at the MakeIt Labs in Nashua.  They are making the masks available to public libraries across the state thanks to  support from Coca-Cola.  Thank you MakeIt Labs and #makersrespond.  They asked us to acknowledge the support and I give them a full shout out for doing this for libraries.

The Hopkinton Town Library, like libraries across the state and country are struggling to figure out the most responsible strategies for beginning a phased in process for re-starting services.  I am working with the staff and trustees to review options.  Staff have been hard at work providing online and virtual services, but we are now looking at restoring curbside pickup and how and when we can sss....lll...ooooo...www...lll...yyyy reopen our doors, while ensuring the safety of staff and library users.  We are waiting for a major study out of IMLS (Institute for Museum and Library Services) about how long the virus lives on books and how cleaning can be done most effectively.  We are looking at strategies for cleaning the library including all surfaces, handles and bathrooms, in a time when cleaning supplies are in short supply.

Please bear with us.  We will keep you informed as our plans develop.  We are happy to hear from you if you have questions or comments. Coming shortly will be a survey to community members about attitudes toward re-opening, as well as a mailing to every household of our newsletter, Library Ink.

AND, as I've mentioned on several occasions, we should be ready to go prime time with our partnership program with MainStreet Bookends in Warner with the "BooksNow" program!  Tomorrow is our target date.....

Until then, enjoy the glorious weather, even if you're sharing it with a black fly or two.
